The National Fire Alarm Code (NFPA 72) standards and regulations require functional tests for introducing synthetic smoke into the detector's sensing chamber. Magnetic testing is not acceptable. The use of a dispenser to generate aerosol test smoke for effective detector activation is highly recommended.
