Powerful Layer 3 routing solution for enterprise and data center networks
PLANET SGS-6341-48T4X is a stackable managed Layer 3 Gigabit switch that provides high-density performance, Layer 3 static routing, RIP (Routing Information Protocol), and OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) . With 176Gbps switching fabric and 4 *10Gbps uplink ports , the SGS-6341-48T4X can handle large amounts of data in a secure topology that links to an enterprise backbone or high-capacity servers. Powerful network security and WRR (Weighted Round Robin) features make the SGS-6341-48T4X perform effective data traffic control for ISP and enterprise VoIP, video streaming, and multicast applications.
High-performance 10 Gbps Ethernet capacity
The four SFP+ slots built into the SGS-6341-48T4X feature a high-performance switching architecture that is capable of providing non-blocking switch technology and speed performance up to 176Gbps, greatly simplifying the tasks of upgrading the LAN to meet the increasing bandwidth demands. Each of the SFP+ slots supports Dual-Speed , 10GBASE-SR/LR, or 1000BASE-SX/LX , which means the administrator can flexibly choose the appropriate SFP/SFP+ transceiver according to the transmission distance or transmission speed needed to extend the network efficiently.
IP stacking management
The SGS-6341-48T4X supports IP stacking, which helps network administrators easily configure up to 24 switches of the same series via a single IP address instead of connecting and configuring each unit individually. IP Stacking technology groups PLANET SGS-6341 series switches together to enable centralized management via a single unit, regardless of the physical location or switch type, as long as they are connected to the same local network.
Layer 3 routing support
The SGS-6341-48T4X allows the administrator to conveniently boost network efficiency by manually configuring Layer 3 static routing and automatically configuring RIP or OSPF settings. RIP can employ hop count as a routing metric and prevent routing cycles by enforcing a limit on the number of hops allowed in a path from source to destination. OSPF is a link-state interior dynamic routing protocol for an autonomous system. The protocol builds a link-state database by exchanging link states between Layer 3 switches, and then uses the Shortest Path First algorithm to generate a route table based on that database.
Full support for IPv6
The SGS-6341-48T4X provides IPv6 management and enterprise-grade security features such as SSH, ACL, WRR , and RADIUS authentication . Therefore, it helps enterprises advance into the IPv6 era with the lowest investment. Moreover, there is no need to replace network infrastructure when building an IPv6 FTTx edge network.
Robust Layer 2 features
The SGS-6341-48T4X can be programmed for basic switch management functions such as port speed configuration, port aggregation, VLAN, Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP), WRR, bandwidth control, and IGMP snooping. This switch provides 802.1Q tagged VLAN, Q-in-Q, voice VLAN, and GVRP protocol functions. By supporting port aggregation, the SGS-6341-48T4X enables high-speed trunking combined with multiple ports. It allows up to 16 trunking groups with a maximum of 8 ports for each group.
Excellent traffic control from level 2 to level 4
The SGS-6341-48T4X is loaded with powerful traffic management and WRR features to enhance telecom services. WRR features include wire-speed Layer 4 traffic classifiers and bandwidth throttling, which are particularly useful for multi-tenant, multi-enterprise, telco, or network applications. It also enables businesses to make the most of limited network resources and ensures optimal VoIP streaming and video conferencing performance.
Powerful security
The SGS-6341-48T4X supports comprehensive ACL policies. Traffic can be classified by source/destination IP addresses, source/destination MAC addresses, IP protocols, TCP/UDP, IP precedence, time intervals, and ToS. Various policies can also be implemented to forward traffic.
The SGS-6341-48T4X also provides IEEE 802.1x port-based access authentication, which can be implemented with RADIUS, to ensure port-level security and block illegal users.
Efficient and secure administration
For efficient management, the SGS-6341-48T4X managed Gigabit switch is equipped with console, web, and SNMP management interfaces. With its built-in web-based management interface, the SGS-6341-48T4X offers easy-to-use, platform-independent configuration and management. The SGS-6341-48T4X supports Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and can be managed through any standards-based management software.
To reduce product learning curve, the SGS-6341-48T4X offers Cisco-style commands via Telnet or the console port, eliminating the need for customers to learn new commands for these switches. Additionally, the SGS-6341-48T4X offers secure remote management by supporting SSH connections that encrypt packet content during each session.
SFP Intelligent Diagnostic Mechanism
The SGS-6341-48T4X supports SFP-DDM (Digital Diagnostic Monitor) function which helps network administrator easily monitor real-time parameters of SFP and SFP+ transceivers, such as optical output power, optical input power, temperature, laser bias current and transceiver supply voltage.
