The goal of HDR is to achieve greater contrast between dark and bright colors, something that is more than noticeable when we examine the difference between images that don't use this technology and those that do. Colors with HDR appear more vivid and intense, primarily due to the greater contrast and greater color presence, as HDR expands the screen's color gamut. For example, on a 1080p or 4K television without HDR, we find 10 shades between one color and another, while on a model with HDR, we can experience up to 1,000 shades that greatly enrich the image. Therefore, in short, it's about offering greater contrast. Blacker blacks. Brighter whites. Something like a hyper-vitaminized contrast that gives images greater realism than anything we've ever seen before.
