HOW TO DETERMINE THE SIZE OF YOUR OWN STAPLE LEG
To choose the right staple leg size for the job, there are two basic things to consider: 1. Thickness of the material being stapled. 2. Hardness of the wood.
As a general rule, for hardwoods, a penetration of 3/16" to 1/4" is sufficient...and for softwoods, up to about 3/8" should be sufficient. However, if the staple used protrudes from the work, it means you've used too long a leg. In that case, we recommend using the next shorter size to achieve the desired result.
STAPLE PENETRATION
For better penetration, raise the rear of the gun when operating it. The T18™'s penetration power is sufficient for use in all regular woods. A shorter staple leg will hold
