The MGB family of Gigabit Ethernet SFP modules can be installed in PLANET switches and media converters with a 1000BASE-SX/LX/BX SFP interface. The reach distance can be extended from 550 m (multi-mode, LC) to 120 kilometers (single-mode, LC) depending on the transceiver.

SFP transceivers are hot-pluggable and hot-swappable. You can plug and unplug the transceivers into/out of any SFP port without having to power down the switch/media converter.
