Lightning protection regulations recommend connecting all grounds, both those corresponding to the general grid and the lightning protection system grounds. This avoids significant coupling problems between grounds. However, in some cases, this connection cannot be made, for example, because it would cause corrosion problems. In these cases, the AT-050K is the most suitable means of connecting the different grounds.

Under normal conditions, this protector keeps the grounds isolated, thus preventing corrosion problems. When a discharge occurs and the voltage increases on the grounds, the spark gap is activated, directly connecting the grounds and thus preventing current from passing between them through internal equipment and installations.
